The South African Premier Business Awards is an annual event hosted by the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti) in partnership with Proudly South African and Brand South Africa. The awards recognise business excellence and honours enterprises that promote the spirit of success and innovation as well as job creation, good business ethics and quality. These awards bring together all single sectored awards, among others technology, manufacturing and women in business.

Mpho Ledwaba is the Marketing Manager for the JSE in Johannesburg, a position he has held since 2013. He has extensive experience in marketing management, having cut his teeth in the FMCG beverage industry, before joining Hollard Insurance Group as the Assistant General Marketing Manager in 2009.



Portia Gumbo-Dube

Export Credit Insurance Corporation (ECIC) 

Portia Dube joined the ECIC in 2015 to head up the Business Development Unit, which is responsible for origination of new business, identifying growth opportunities and managing relationships with existing clients. She has more than 15 years’ experience in managing the full deal lifecycle, from inception to close, as well as a proven ability to foster relationships. Her career began in banking with the Barclays Group and she has originated, executed and syndicated various debt transactions for both corporate and state-owned entities. 


Ms Hlengiwe Makhathini
Divisional Executive: Venture Capital and Corporate Finance

Hlengiwe Makhathini is the Divisional Executive: Venture Capital and Corporate Finance at the National Empowerment Fund. She is a qualified chartered accountant and has vast experience in the banking sector.

Bongani Coka is the CEO of SAIPA. He was previously the CEO of Productivity SA, a position that he held for five years after spending 10 years as the organisation’s Chief Financial Officer.

Mr. Ndivhuho Raphulu
National Cleaner Production Centre (NCPC)- CSIR

Ndivhuho Raphulu heads up the National Cleaner Production Centre of South Africa (NCPC-SA), the resource efficiency and cleaner production programme of the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti), hosted by the CSIR, with offices in Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban.

Mr Mothunye Mothiba prides himself with a career spanning over three decades, two of which were in leadership and management in various sectors including in the education sector as head master; the Labour Administration System – Department of Labour as Chief Director Operations (Compliance Monitoring and Enforcement, and Public Employment Services) and latter Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation; the Gambling Industry as COO; and Productivity SA as CEO.

His competencies, which are complemented by business studies up to post graduate level places him in a strategic position to play a critical and leading role in transforming South Africa’s socio-economic and Industry landscape. This includes his vision to reposition Productivity SA to become a center of excellence to lead a productivity and innovation driven growth and development agenda for South Africa.

Mr Mothiba’s skills and passion lies in Strategy and performance management, leadership and people empowerment, business transformation and competitiveness models including Business Turnaround and Recovery strategies to restructure and improve the productivity and operational efficiency of enterprises facing economic distress.

Ms Khanyisile Thandiwe Kweyama, MSc (Management) has been the Chief Executive Officer Business Unity South Africa at South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry since December 2014. She is also currently the Chairperson of Brand South Africa.

Xolani, a self- taught businessman and entrepreneur, is the former CEO of the Black Business Council, and he is very passionate about entrepreneurship and economic transformation.

He has over 20 years of general Management experience and has held senior management positions in several companies, including DENEL, Gijima, Multichoice and MTN. Prior to joining the Black Business Council he was Managing Owner of Qubelisa Enterprise Empowerment & Training cc., a corporation focusing on entrepreneurial development and training and capacity building for SMME’s.

Xolani Qubeka is the Chief Executive Officer of SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTE, Secretary General of the Black Business Council and its founding CEO. He is also a non -executive director at REDISA.

Ms Bridget Nkuna is the Marketing Director of WestconGroup Southern Africa where she is responsible for working with the sales and executive teams to generate leads, creating market opportunities and driving the company’s global and local messaging throughout the SADC countries within the region. She is the founder of Owami Women - an initiative of platform for communication, networking, information sharing, and empowerment amongst women, - and is she is an Agent for Change.
